Places to watch a sport, with the disclaimer that every bar is a Saints’ bar. If there’s a unique affiliation with a team or sport, that’s noted in the description.
The Milan Lounge (Cubs) also makes our list of dive bars. If there’s a bigger Cubs bar in New Orleans, our authors haven’t found it yet. The pens at the Milan say “Wrigley Field South”. Also conveniently located a short stumble from the streetcar line.
Cooter Brown’s is a beer bar with a sports addiction but they’re best-known for showing hockey, which is pretty rare here. They also have oysters and an excellent kitchen for bar food. They’re located right at the Carrollton-St. Charles bend, right across from a New Orleans Original Daiquir’s location.
Bruno’s Tavern is an Uptown institution with a variety of specials throughout the week. Wine Wednesday, with $5 bottles, tends to draw a crowd from the local campuses and Triple Thursday will ruin your Friday if you’re not careful. Located on Maple St., within easy striking distance of any number of food and drink options, this is a perennial favorite.
